Shaykh Naasir was asked,

“Are we sinful if we do not call the Kuffaar to Islaam while we are residing amongst them? In general, most of them know about Islaam, however it is in an incorrect way.”

“I shall sort you out with this…” December 10, 2007

Something funny to share.

Shaykh ‘Abdullah al-Faisal (hafidhullah) mentioned in his lecture on leadership the incident where ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu) takes the position of Khalifah and a man pulls out his sword and says in public to ‘Umar (along the lines of), “If you should ever stray from the Sunnah of Rasool (sallallahu ‘alayhi wassallam) and what Abu Bakr laid down, I shall sort you out with this sword of mine!” And he shows his sword to ‘Umar.

‘Umar didn’t call the security on this man nor did he arrest this man. Instead ‘Umar was happy. ‘Umar said that he was glad that there were people in this Ummah that were on the right path.

So Shaykh ‘Abdullah al-Faisal goes,

“Now can you go to any Country like Egypt, Pakistan, Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia etc… and pull out your Kalashnikov and say to King Fahd (for example), ‘If you don’t come back to Qur’aan and Sunnah, then I’m going to sort you out with this Kalashnikov of mine!”

The point is, back then, we were able to openly confront our rulers and correct them where they went wrong. Is such a thing heard of today?

Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah on Al-Walā’ wal Barā’ah

Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (rahīmahullāh) said,

“The heart will not find complete happiness except by loving Allāh and by striving towards what is dear to Him. It is not possible to achieve this love except by rejecting all things that compete with it. This is what the words, ‘There is no god but Allāh’, mean; this is the spirit of the Millah of Ibrāhīm “al-Khalīl” (the friend of Allāh), peace be upon him, and of that of every other Prophet, may Allāh’s peace be upon them all.” (Kitāb Majmū’ al-Fatāwa, Vol. 28, p. 32 [Riyādh])

The Shaykh also said,

“The declaration of faith, ‘There is no god but Allāh’, requires you to love only for the sake of Allāh, to hate only for the sake of Allāh, to ally yourself only for the sake of Allāh, to declare enmity only for the sake of Allāh; it requires you to love what Allāh loves and to hate what Allāh hates. It also requires you to ally yourself to the Muslims wherever you find them and to oppose the disbelievers even if they are your closest kin.” (Al-Ihtijaj bi’l-Qadar, p.62)
