Pakistani security officials stand near burnt military vehicles parked near trucks that were hit by rocket-propelled grenades fired by militants, on the outskirts of Peshawar December 1, 2008. Two drivers of trucks transporting supplies to Western forces in Afghanistan were killed on Monday in a grenade and gun attack near Peshawar, a transport company official said.

Hakimullah Mehsud, the commander of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (Movement of Pakistani Taliban) in three tribal agencies, warned on November 26, that the key supply route to Afghanistan could be blocked if the US military continues to launch airstrikes on Pakistani soil. Landlocked Afghanistan receives most of its imports via the Pakistani sea port of Karachi.
